As an official ambassador for Ball Canning, I’ve been developing a series of preserving recipes for the brand this summer. (Did you miss them? Click over to my first two recipes, Quick Pickled Roasted Beets and Balsamic Strawberry Jam.)
And, I have another one coming to you next week in conjunction with a very special event. On Friday, July 22, 2016, Ball will be hosting its sixth annual International Can-It-Forward Day, a celebration to share — or pay forward — the joys of canning and bring together canners, gardeners, and food enthusiasts alike.
For the first time, Ball will be broadcasting the event digitally from its new home on Facebook Live, a streaming video service that you can view on the Ball Canning Facebook page.
From 10 am to 3:30 pm ET, tune in to watch a variety of live recipe demonstrations from myself as well as the other Fresh Preservers ambassadors. I’ll be on at 3 pm ET to show you how to make my favorite Fiesta Peppers! (Update: You can watch my recipe demo here!)
This year, Ball will be paying it forward to select food charities chosen by its ambassadors. For every like, share, reaction, and comment on its Facebook Live recipe demos that day, Ball will donate $1 to each of the charities.
I’ve chosen Enrich LA, a Los Angeles nonprofit that aims to build an edible garden in every school, so I hope you’ll participate by watching my livestream and “liking” it! I would love to help this amazing organization fund a new project to benefit the next generation of gardeners!
Other things you need to know about International Can-It-Forward Day on Facebook Live:
- Every hour, viewers will have a chance to win a prize.
- You can pledge to pay it forward and receive a $5 coupon to use at the Fresh Preserving store.
- Ball canning experts will be live on Twitter with the hashtag #canitforward from 10 am to 5 pm EST to answer all of your preserving or canning questions. You can also share your own #canitforward creations on Pinterest and Instagram.
So, mark your calendars for Friday, July 22, 2016 from 10 am to 3:30 pm ET. Engage with any of the recipe demos on Facebook Live that day, learn something new, and support some great causes!
P.S. Don’t worry if you’re not able to tune in live; the videos will be posted on Facebook after broadcast.
This post is brought to you by Ball Canning, for whom I’m a paid ambassador. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Garden Betty.
