Disclosure: If you shop from my article or make a purchase through one of my links, I may receive commissions on some of the products I recommend.

Amazon’s massive annual summer sale is back, and this year, Prime Day happens over four days (from July 8 through July 11, 2025) so you can really take your time searching for the best deals on backyard essentials.

The sheer number of deals available can be overwhelming, so I’ve put together this list of my top outdoor product picks to help you get started. Since new deals continually launch every day, I’ll update my list throughout the week as I find more deals worth sharing.

So what makes my recommendations different?

I’m sure your news feed is popping with all sorts of sites promoting Amazon Prime Days. But my list is different because I only recommend the items that I personally own and use (and love!) or I recommend items that have been sitting in my shopping cart for a while, after much thought and research, and now I can finally take advantage of Prime Day pricing to buy them.

How to shop the sale

Amazon Prime Day starts on Tuesday, July 8 at 12:01 am and ends on Friday, July 11 at 11:59 pm.

To take advantage of Amazon Prime Day Deals, you must be a Prime member. You can sign up here for a free 30-day trial.

It’s worth the cost if you decide to keep your membership. My husband and I share a household Prime membership and use it for free shipping, Prime Video, Amazon Music, Amazon Photos (unlimited photo storage), and GrubHub+ (free food delivery from local restaurants). There are other benefits too (like discounted prescriptions, Prime Fuel, Prime Reading, and Prime Gaming) that we don’t use.

Prime members also get exclusive discounts outside of Prime Days, so even if you don’t shop this week, you’ll have year-round access to special prices on lots of different items (which isn’t made clear as a perk, but I’ve seen this firsthand when I browse Amazon without being logged in to my account).

Because I’m a longtime Amazon partner (meaning I earn commissions from qualifying purchases through the links in this post), I also have the honor of giving away two $500 Amazon.com gift cards to two lucky Garden Betty followers! Keep reading to the end to find out how to enter for your chance to win.

Quick Tip

If you’re like me, you probably have tons of items in your “Save for Later” cart or Amazon wish list. Scan through those and see if any of them are Prime Day Deals today!

Prime Day Deals I’m loving

Back to the Roots Worm Castings – I like to add worm castings at transplanting time, because they’re full of nutrients yet won’t burn your plants. This is a brand I tried this year, and I think it really helped my seedlings flourish in summer.

Back to the Roots Coconut Coir – I make my own seed starting mix and part of the three-ingredient recipe includes peat moss or coco coir. I decided to buy this brick of coir for cost-effectiveness and it expanded to fill a huge tub! It worked well and that initial brick will last me at least three seasons. (You don’t have to expand the full brick at once, by the way; you can simply break off a small amount as needed.)

Vego Garden Metal Raised Bed – I wanted to start a new mushroom bed on the shady side of my house, so I bought this metal raised bed a few weeks ago. So far I’m not disappointed! I have the 17-inch-tall version. It takes a bit of time to put together, but only because it comes as a kit that allows for multiple sizes and configurations. I turned mine into an 8×2 bed and it seems sturdy and well-built. (The smooth edge trim was key for me, as I’ve read reviews on similar—yet cheaper—metal beds that are fabricated with sharp or unfinished edges.)

Metal Garden Supports – I purchased a couple different sizes this season for my flower and herb beds. They work really well to hold up (or hold in) tall-stemmed or bushy plants like tarragon, hydrangea, and coneflowers.

Chapin 48-Ounce Sprayer – For watering newly seeded trays, I like using this spray bottle since it outputs a fine consistent mist (and doesn’t dislodge seeds, which always happens with a watering can).

Chapin Watering Can – This was a recent purchase for me and so far I really like it. It holds 2 gallons and has 2 handles that make carrying and balancing the watering can very easy, even when it’s full. The nozzle also flows evenly. Amazon has this as a “Limited Time Deal” so the sale price won’t last long! (I bought this at regular price and would do so again; it’s not some flimsy plastic product.)

Melnor Metal Nozzle – I’ve long used Gilmour hose nozzles but Melnor is quickly becoming a new favorite in the garden. My husband gifted me this fireman’s nozzle and it’s my absolute favorite nozzle right now (I really need to write a review on it)—but alas, it’s not a Prime Day deal. What is on sale this week is Melnor’s heavyweight multi-pattern metal nozzle, which I’m excited to try if the build quality is anything like the fireman’s version.

Melnor RelaxGrip Nozzle – This is another Melnor nozzle I want to try, and it’s such a great price that I might pick up two of them just so I have a backup. I really like the adjustable head that helps reduce wrist strain when you have a lot of watering to do.

Tall Expandable Pea Trellis – I’m currently using this trellis in my garden for cucumbers, though before that, it supported snap peas. Like other products from Gardener’s Supply Company, this trellis is high-quality and well-designed. I own other trellises in this line (with the same coating) and they haven’t rusted in the eight years I’ve kept them outside. (Can’t say the same for cheaper trellises I’ve bought from Amazon or Home Depot.)

Heavy-Gauge Tomato Cages – Another product I own and love from Gardener’s Supply! These are strong enough to support indeterminate tomato vines and won’t tip over (unlike cone-shaped supports). When the season’s over, they easily collapse flat for storage.

Barebones Hori Hori Knife – A hori hori (soil knife) has so many uses in the garden, from cutting to digging to transplanting and more. Most recently, I used mine to locate underground tunnels in my garden paths created by a mole.

Fiskars Pruning Scissors – I own two pairs—one inside the house (for trimming houseplants) and one in the garden (for snipping herbs and other small plants). It’s sharp, comfortable to hold, and never rusts (even when I forget to put it away and find it in my garden bed weeks later).

Fiskars Bypass Pruners – Another item that’s a longtime staple in my garden toolbox. This one cuts through branches that are 3/4-inch thick, and I’ve used it to power through some monster kale stems that overwintered! IYKYK.

Fiskars 32-Inch Loppers – I have a whole collection of Fiskars tools in the garage, and these loppers don’t disappoint. They have good reach for tall shrubs and will cut branches up to 2 inches in diameter.

Fiskars Extendable Tree Pruner and Pole Saw – My husband uses this tool to trim branches from our willow tree. The pole extends up to 12 feet and you can switch between pruning shears or a pruning saw, depending on the job.

Fiskars Wood Splitting Axe – I honestly don’t know much about axes, but my husband likes this axe for splitting fire wood. It’s well balanced, easy to swing, and splits most logs in just one strike.

EGO Power+ Leaf Blower – You’ll see a few EGO products on my list because we LOVE them around here. And EGO usually has different tools on sale during each Prime Day event, so you can slowly start building your collection of these powerful cordless yard tools (which all use the same high-capacity batteries).

EGO Power+ Combo String Trimmer and Edger – This particular item is a Power Head, which means you can swap between different attachments (a string trimmer and edger are included in this combo, but you can seamlessly add other attachment heads).

EGO Power+ Chainsaw – My husband cut down a 30-foot-tall pine tree with this chain saw, and powers through large hardwood logs with ease. He sees no need for a gas-powered chain saw now.

EGO Power+ Cordless Lawn Mower – We don’t own this yet, but it’s on the list. We watched an 11-year-old boy mow our lawn so effortlessly with an EGO mower, and loved how clean and quiet it was compared to a traditional gas mower.

Run-Chicken Automatic Coop Door – If you’re still letting your chickens in and out yourself every day, you must upgrade to an automatic door! I’ve owned this model for years and it’s never failed our flock, even in single-digit temps. (They also make a solar-powered version.)

ThermoPro Digital Hygrometer – I’ve used this simple standalone version for years to monitor the temperature and humidity inside my chicken coop, but as my garden and needs have grown, I’m looking to upgrade to this wireless set that comes with a display unit and remote sensor (no wifi or apps needed). It lacks the bells and whistles of a full-blown weather station, but that’s what I like about it (it’s also extremely affordable). I can stick a sensor in the coop, the greenhouse, the garage where I store all my garlic and seeds, and elsewhere—and view all the sensors on a single, small and unobtrusive display.

Liquid Fence Deer & Rabbit Repellent – If it feels like your garden is merely there to feed deer and rabbits, this ready-to-use liquid formula is worth a try. I’ve found that spraying it on ornamental plants helps keep pests away from your flowers and shrubs. (I don’t use this on food crops.)

Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellent – I’ve tried all kinds of natural bug sprays containing lemon, eucalyptus, etc., but I don’t mess around when it comes to mosquitoes and ticks and the only thing that works for me is picaridin (which is said to be more effective yet less toxic than DEET). It’s a must on hikes! (We also use the lotion version of Sawyer’s repellent, but prefer this spray on the go.)

Natrapel Insect Repellent – This is another reliable brand of picaridin spray that our family uses, and we keep this larger bottle in our RV. (We carry the convenient wipe version in our daypacks.)

Sawyer Permethrin Insect Repellent – Tick-borne infections are no joke. Before we head out to the backcountry, I treat our tops, pants, socks, and hats with this permethrin spray just in case. I’ve been using it for over 20 years, and it’s a good option if you don’t want stuff on your skin (particularly for kids). A single treatment lasts up to six weeks or six washings.

Thermacell Rechargeable Mosquito Repeller – Speaking of repellents… If you want a mosquito-free experience at camp (or on your patio or poolside), you must try a Thermacell! I got one after being eaten alive by mosquitoes on an early June camping trip near a lake, and it was surprisingly effective for creating an invisible barrier around our base camp on the next trip. (The refills are Prime Day deals too.)

Intex Ultra XTR Above-Ground Pool – We just got the round version of this pool, and let me tell you, the Prime Day Deal for the rectangular version is a steal. I considered cheaper options (like the Intex Prism line or the Bestway brand) but am really happy I went with the higher-end Ultra XTR frame. It’s super easy to set up and the frame is beefy, yet lightweight. Our family spends several hours a day, every day, in our new pool and the separate saltwater system (also by Intex) makes it so easy to keep clean without using a ton of chemicals.

Hydro Flask 40-Ounce Travel Tumbler – I’m a big fan of Hydro Flask (especially since the company started in Bend, where I live) and just added this tumbler to my collection. This is an amazing deal for a 40-ounce tumbler and I love all the fun colors it comes in! (If you prefer a traditional water bottle, the 40-ounce version with a “chug cap” is on sale too.)

Hydro Flask Can Cooler – This is my favorite can koozie because it’s multipurpose: use it to insulate a frosty beverage or remove the silicone collar to turn it into a 12-ounce insulated cup. I keep a few of these in our RV!

Igloo Tag Along Strapped Cooler – I bought this super cute cooler a couple years ago and it’s the perfect size for holding a few snacks and drinks on a short outing. Love that you can carry it on your shoulder, and especially love the hard flat top that doubles as a seat or a mini table.

Bogg Bag – My husband thinks this is ugly… which means it’s gotta be good, right?! 😆 I have a few Boggs in different sizes and they’re my go-to beach bags and picnic baskets. They’re incredibly strong (surviving my kids dragging them across the ground) and the structured shape makes them perfect for carrying heavy water bottles, snacks, towels, extra clothes, books, and more. They don’t hold sand and hose off so easily after a trip!

SoloStove Bonfire 2.0 – We’ve owned the original SoloStove Bonfire for eight years and have taken it on all kinds of camping trips and tailgating parties (and it still looks like new). We also use it at home and it’s just the right size to fit a couple families around it.

Sun Joe Electric Power Washer – Every house needs a good pressure washer. We use ours to wash the car, wash the RV, clean the chicken coop, spray down our porch, and just get the gunk off our siding and sheds after a dusty or muddy season.

Kidde Fire Extinguisher – When was the last time you replaced your fire extinguisher? (Did you know it has a shelf life?) We check our fire extinguishers every year and keep one in the kitchen, garage, BBQ area, and RV.

Schlage Encode Plus Smart Door Lock – We have these locks on a couple of our exterior doors, and now I want to add more because they’re so convenient! They’re wifi- and smart home-enabled with all kinds of fancy features, but I particularly like the ability to assign temporary codes (for housesitters and such).
