Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a sucker for seeds. Lots and lots o’ seeds. And one of my favorite suppliers of seeds is a small heirloom house called Baker Creek, headed by Jere Gettle and his wife, Emilee. They’ve been a big supporter of Garden Betty since the beginning and have sent me countless seeds to try in my garden every season.
Their homegrown operation has a feel-good family vibe to it, and since we’re all family here, I want to share this awesome and generous giveaway from Baker Creek with you!
You’ve probably seen Baker Creek mentioned here and there on my blog — I grow plenty of their offerings, from the traditional to the exotic. But mostly the exotic. I love the selection of seeds at Baker Creek, which comes from over 70 different countries. Thumbing through their beautiful catalog of 1,400 seeds is both delight and torture at the same time — delight because I want to grow everything I can get my hands on, and torture because my garden simply isn’t big enough.
Baker Creek specializes in non-hybrid, non-GMO, non-treated, and non-patented seeds. This is about as pure as you can get. Their seeds come from small farmers and seed growers, and not from Monsanto-owned Seminis, which supplies many of the big-box stores. When you buy from Baker Creek, you’re not only supporting a family business, but also taking a stand against GMOs.
In my experience these last few seasons with Baker Creek seeds, I’ve had close to 100 percent germination and a garden full of healthy, productive plants. Since they’re open-pollinated, I’m also able to save many of my own seeds from the plants I’ve grown. My personal seed vault contains over 250 packets filled with thousands of seeds!
Want your own seed vault? How about one that comes in a nifty, sturdy bucket, brimming with over 25 different vegetables — 60 varieties in all — chosen for your specific climate?
For one lucky winner, Baker Creek will be giving away their Large Seed Collection (retail value $99), tailored for northern or southern climates. The assortment includes several types of vegetables, flowers, herbs, cover crops, and fruits and berries, and will keep for up to 10 years if stored properly. That’s 60 heirloom seed packets to start your spring off right! Incredible, yes?!

I can’t imagine anything Baker Creek I wouldn’t like to try. We consider the catalog a coffee table book left out for friends to drool over when visiting. I would love to grow striped Roma’s again. A friend gave me seeds years ago and a housesitter threw out my seed saving thinking she was cleaning up!
I placed three orders with them this spring for the first time and just started my seeds last night. I am excited to try all the different things I ordered from them. It will be interesting to see how the plants grow. This is my first time growing heirloom plants.
I would love to grow some heirloom tomatoes and carrots, maybe some lettuce……food is so expensive, and every little savings we can get to help our growing family!
Love Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds! I am excited to try the Dragon’s Egg Cucumber this year. I also can’t wait for fresh tomatoes, mmmm. I agree, the catalog is beautiful and makes it so hard to choose which seeds to order….I wish I had room for them all! So happy to have found you site, can’t wait to check out more.
I’d love to try some of their old fashioned carrots.. The carrots I ate when I was a child were wonderful and full of good flavor & sweetness.. Cant say that for the commercial carrots these days..
Thanks for this giveaway.. I think its awesome!

Would love to have seeds to plant and grow at my new tropical home in HI.
Would love to try the Northern seed collection , I belong to a 30+ year old community garden , and will share the package with fellow members. Our garden has 60 + members, solar panels, honey bees, a composting toilet , a fig tree grove , and we’ve won many awards , we picked and donated 63 lbs. of produce on 3/19 , so cool to donate fresh veggies.
Baker Creek is one of my favorites. One of the true heirloom collector’s sources. Blacktail Mountain Watermelon is my favorite. It grows well in the short and cool Pacific NW summers (with help, of course).
We ordered seeds from them the first time this year. Looking foward to the produce of all, but probably the amish paste tomatos the most.
my Rapini broccoli sprouts are doing so well and so are the blue curled scotch kale. I would love to try there borrage and lavender and also the purple tomatillos and the purple hull cowpeas
I follow you on @arghaaronburr

I love scarlet flax, but have a hard time finding the seeds sometimes, so I’m especially happy to see that they carry them.
I don’t know that I could pick just one thing I am excited about trying this season! There are so many different things I’d love to try.
Now following you on twitter too! @Hat5000
Can’t wait for the Moon and stars yellow heart watermelons!
I ordered a lot of seed from Baker Creek this year, and can’t wait to get it all in the ground! There are so many other varieties I wanted to try, but I decided to keep it narrowed down so that I don’t get overwhelmed. This is going to be, by far, the largest garden I’ve ever planted!
My favorite seeds from Baker Creek are the Thai Red Seed Beans. I love to grow all the different Thai seeds (purple eggplant, green eggplant, giant pepper, yellow pepper, thai red chili pepper, thai basil) I could go on and on.
I haven’t tried Baker yet, but have convinced my sister to purchase and now that I am starting my (container) garden, I will be ordering this week! Looking forward to some fabulous squash and cucumbers, maybe an heirloom tomato or two! Yummy!
I’d love to grow,
Huge Lemon Oxheart tomatoes. It looks the closest to a yellow tomato that I bought at a local farmers market last summer. That was the best tasting tomato I ever had! Some of the heirloom vegetables this particular farmer sold is what really got me interested in trying different varieties then what my local nursery had in flats at planting time.
I have heard of Baker and they are quality.. I can not wait to get started for this year. I enjoy trying something different in my garden every year. I have the privilege to make a new border area along the trail this year.
I would like to try the Albino Beet.
I have not tried Baker yet. This year is the first I will have a space to plant my garden. I would prefer non GMO seeds and stumbled on Baker seeds in ordering seed catalogs. I like all purple tomatoes, stupice, and most other varieties.
