If you haven’t heard, Amazon Prime Day is happening this year on July 12 and 13, 2022. It’s a massive sale on Amazon (bigger than Black Friday) with hundreds of thousands of items offered at discounted prices.
I’m a longtime Prime member (you have to be to get these deals) and I’ve been shopping Amazon Prime Day for years, scooping up all sorts of sales for things I’ve been saving up for. Nearly half my tool shed probably came from Prime Day!
(And if you know tools, you know all those “toys” add up quickly! Wait, did I just refer to home improvement tools as toys? I’m blaming new homeownership pride for that. 😉)
I recently learned it’s possible to find some of these extreme savings and rare deals in advance, and I’ve been checking Amazon the last couple weeks and adding things to my shopping cart that are too good to pass up. I’m sharing these finds with you as I think you might like to know about them too.
How to shop the sale
Amazon Prime Day starts on Tuesday, July 12 at 12:01 am and ends on Wednesday, July 13 at 11:59 pm.
To take advantage of Amazon Prime Day, you must be a Prime Member. You can sign up here for a free 30-day trial.
It’s a fantastic service—I use my Prime membership for free two-day shipping, Try Before You Buy (a lifesaver for trying on kids’ clothes without trekking to the store with littles in tow), Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Amazon Photos (for unlimited photo storage).
Here are my favorite Amazon Prime Day picks for your yard and garden:
Liquid Fence – If it sometimes feels like you’re growing plants just to feed the deer, you need this super effective, non-toxic liquid repellent. The gallon jug is on sale for 52% off!
Greenworks 40V Cordless Pole Saw – I already own a couple of Greenworks tools, which all share the same batteries. Which is awesome ’cause I’m tired of sifting through a dozen different batteries and chargers in the garage!
Greenworks 40V Cordless Chainsaw – In the market for a new chainsaw that’s easy to carry and use? We have this one which we’ve used to cut down our Christmas tree every year. It’s 35% off today!
Greenworks 40V Cordless String Trimmer – Not just for weed whacking. I use a string trimmer to shred leaves for mulch in the fall, too. This one is 25% off.
Greenworks 40V Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum – A shop vac is indispensable if you do a lot of DIY, and this one is especially handy since it uses the same battery as all the other Greenworks tools (so you can build up your collection!).
Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller – This smart sprinkler controller automates your irrigation and watches the weather so you don’t have to worry about wasting water (or not watering enough). It’s on sale for 37% off.
Nisaku Hori Hori and Digging Knife – This one’s already in my cart! One of my most-used garden tools, I can’t resist snagging a second one for 35% off.
Nisaku 5-Tine Claw Rake – I like using hand cultivators like this one to lightly loosen the top layer of soil when I’m sowing seeds. It’s a great deal at 25% off.
Fiskars PowerGear2 Hedge Shears – I own this pair and just used it to chop down several beds of cover crops. It’s sharp, easy to handle, and a workhorse in the yard. Today you can get it for 15% off!
Fiskars Micro-Tip Pruning Snip – I use snips and scissors in the garden a lot more than I use pruning shears, as I find them more versatile. This is a reliable pair that I always keep on hand for various cutting tasks (not just for plants).
Gorilla Carts Garden Dump Cart – I have multiple carts around the yard but love this one because of its quick dump feature! It’s easier to use than a wheelbarrow and way more efficient. Get it for 15% off today!
Gorilla Carts Steel Garden Cart with Removable Sides – I’m a fan of Gorilla Carts in general and also have this version, which is infinitely useful in the garden. Honestly, you need both (this one and my last recommendation) because they each serve different purposes.
Back to the Roots Pink Oyster Mushroom Grow Kit – I’ve received a few of these kits as gifts in the past, and always got a kick out of growing and harvesting my own mushrooms indoors. Anyone can do this, even in the smallest space. This one is 36% off today!
Other deals I’m liking for 2022:
Kamado Joe Big Block XL Lump Charcoal – Hands down the best lump charcoal! I used this while developing recipes for The Backyard Fire Cookbook (that’s a lot of recipes I put it through).
Solo Stove Outdoor Fire Pit Backyard Bundle – We uses our Solo Stove year-round for hanging out in the yard, tailgating, and camping. It’s a low-smoke fire pit that’s stylish and portable, and this bundle includes everything you need to get started.
Amazon Basics 46,000 BTU Propane Patio Heater – Warm up on those chilly evenings when you’re dining alfresco or hanging out on the deck. This patio heater is 16% off today!
Black + Decker Bug Zapper – This is a commercial-strength bug and mosquito zapper that covers up to 2 acres! I want one for my backyard.
EF Ecoflow Portable Power Station – Every home needs a portable generator for emergencies, and this one is compact enough to store easily. You can even bring it camping!
