Amazon Prime Big Deal Days are back. It’s like Black Friday—only better—and it’s happening this year on October 8 and October 9, 2024.
This is a good time to take inventory of your home and garden gear and think about what needs replacing (as well as what you’ve had your eye on) because hundreds of thousands of items will be offered at discounted prices. Not to mention the holidays are glimmering around the corner and you can get a head start on your gift buying.
I’m a Prime member (you have to be to get these deals) and I’ve been shopping Amazon Prime Days for years, scooping up all sorts of sales for things I’ve been saving up for. Nearly half my tool shed came from various Prime Days, and my husband likes to joke that I rarely ever buy anything full price. (It’s kind of true though.)
How to shop the sale
To take advantage of Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, you must be a Prime member. You can sign up here for a free 30-day trial.
It’s worth the cost if you decide to keep your membership. My husband and I share a Prime membership and use it for free two-day shipping, Try Before You Buy (a lifesaver for busy families with growing kids), Prime Video, Amazon Music, Amazon Photos (unlimited photo storage), and GrubHub+ (free food delivery from local restaurants). There are other benefits too (like discounted prescriptions, Prime Reading, and Prime Gaming) that we don’t use.
Prime members also get exclusive discounts outside of Prime Days, so even if you don’t shop this week, you’ll have year-round access to special prices on lots of different items (which isn’t made clear as a perk, but I’ve seen this firsthand when I browse Amazon without being logged in to my account).
Because I’m a longtime Amazon partner (meaning I earn commissions from qualifying purchases through the links in this post), I also have the honor of giving away two $500 Amazon.com gift cards to two lucky Garden Betty followers! Keep reading to the end to find out how to enter for your chance to win.
Prime Day deals I’m loving
I’ve been scoping their early deals and deal previews and put together this list of my favorite finds. Some are items I personally own and love, and some are items I’ve added to my shopping cart. I’ll update my list throughout Prime Big Deal Days as I find new deals worth sharing!
Soil Block Maker – Trusty gardening brand Fiskars has entered the soil-blocking game and I’m intrigued with their version of the tool, which can make up to four blocks at a time.
Coco Coir Bricks – If you make your own seed starting mix and potting soil, here’s a deal on compressed coco coir bricks (which you can use in place of peat moss).
Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller – Automated watering frees up so much time in the garden, and I like this controller for its Weather Intelligence technology. It automatically adjusts the watering schedule with its rain skip, wind skip, and freeze skip features.
EGO Power+ Cordless Leaf Blower – My husband just added this leaf blower to his ever-growing EGO power tool collection and it’s a must for fall cleanup in the yard.
EGO Power+ Cordless Chainsaw – We’ve owned this for several years and it’s impressive! Very powerful and we don’t miss having a gas chainsaw at all.
EGO Power+ Snow Blower – We use our electric snow blower on a 300-foot-long gravel driveway and it’s so quiet and clean!
EF EcoFlow Portable Power Station – Every household needs a generator for emergencies. This one has 15 outlets to power all your household devices so you’re prepared in the event of a blackout.
Liquid Fence Deer Repellent – Don’t lose any of your shrubs or trees to deer next year! This is an effective repellent if you can’t use physical barriers.
Wells Lamont HydraHyde Leather Gardening Gloves – I bought these gloves last year and they are now my favorite work gloves! They’re weather-resistant, durable, and comfortable, and keep my hands super warm during early spring and late fall gardening chores.
Gorilla Grip Extra Thick Kneeling Pad – Every gardener needs a good kneeling pad or two for weeding, planting, and general home projects, and this is the best one I’ve found (I’ve been through a lot).
Sun Joe Electric High Pressure Washer – Every household needs a good pressure washer! We use ours for lots of tasks, from washing the car to spraying down our deck.
Gorilla Cart Steel Utility Cart – I’m obsessed with these garden carts! On big harvest days I just load them up with veggies to wheel back into the house. (Bonus: You can spread out your root veggies in this cart and spray them with a hose to clean them up.)
Neptune’s Harvest Fish Fertilizer – One of my favorite fertilizers to use on tomatoes and other heavy feeders. I also like to dilute it for seedlings and new transplants. They end up growing like gangbusters!
Jobe’s Organics Bulb Food – Did you get your fall-planted bulbs in the ground yet? Then you’ll want to grab a bag of this granular fertilizer to feed your flowers in spring.
Down to Earth Acid Mix Fertilizer – Here’s another great deal on fertilizer, this time for blueberries, raspberries, hydrangeas, and other acid-loving plants. Down to Earth is one of my favorite fertilizer brands.
Burpee Fine Grade Horticultural Vermiculite – If you plan to make your own seed-starting mix, this is an essential ingredient. (I always keep a bag around for homemade seed-starting mixes and potting mixes.) Learn more about how to use vermiculite.
Nisaku Hori Hori Weeding and Digging Knife – I keep a few pairs of hori hori knives around my yard, shed, and garage because they’re so useful!
Jobe’s Deer Barrier Fencing – We use this lightweight fencing to keep deer out of our orchard. It rolls out easily and also works great as a barrier around raised beds to deter rabbits and other animals.
Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellent – If you’re battling wildlife pests in your garden, this concentrated formula is a safe and easy way to keep them out.
ThermoPro Digital Hygrometer – I’ve been using this hygrometer for years and have one in the chicken coop (to ensure our flock doesn’t get frostbite), inside our house (to maintain proper humidity for tropical houseplants), and out in the garage (to monitor temps for plants we’re overwintering or produce we’re storing).
K&H Products Thermo Chicken Brooder – We want to get chicks in the spring, and I’m considering this heater as a safer alternative to traditional red heat lamps (which can be a fire hazard).
Quick Tip
If you’re like me, you probably have tons of items in your “Save for Later” cart or Amazon wish list. Scan through those and see if any of them are Prime Day Deals today!
More home and electronics deals I’m liking
iRobot Roomba – We have this robot vac (which we named Dustin Bieber 😂) and run it nearly every day. The self-emptying feature is key and makes it sooo much better than previous robot vacs we’ve had.
iRobot Braava Jet – I was skeptical of using a robot mop (would it really get the floors clean?), but we’ve had ours for a year now and yes, it does get the floors clean, even with two messy kids who love to craft and eat saucy foods.
Bissell Little Green Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner – We put white carpet in our new house (are we gluttons for punishment or what?!) and this upholstery cleaner works like magic on spills and stains. Read the reviews on the Little Green; they’re impressive!
Bissell Cordless Vacuum – We have a cordless Bissell similar to this one, and it makes quick cleanups so much easier. (I love the detachable hand vac feature.)
Ninja Air Fryer – I had this and loved it until I upgraded to an older-model Ninja Foodi so I could have more cooking functions. Now, I’m eyeing this Ninja Combi for its more streamlined footprint.
Kamado Joe 18-Inch Charcoal Grill – This is the first time I’ve ever seen a Kamado Joe on sale here, and I can tell you it’s a screaming deal! We own one of these ceramic smokers and it’s amazing at holding in heat for smoking, roasting, and grilling.
Lavatools Javelin Pro Duo Instant Read Thermometer – This is a super reliable digital thermometer that I use when grilling meat, making sure my fish isn’t overcooked, or heating up oil for deep frying.
Ooni Fyra Outdoor Pizza Oven – I’m a fan of outdoor cooking (if you couldn’t tell from my cookbooks) and this pizza oven was a splurge last Christmas that I still love! I have this same version that uses hardwood pellets, and it turns out fantastic pizza in mere minutes—even in 35°F weather! (Yes, seriously. One of our first times using this oven was on New Year’s Eve.)
Etekcity Infrared Thermometer – If you decide to get a pizza oven, you’ll need a thermometer like this one to make sure your oven is up to temp. This is the exact model I have and it works flawlessly.
Laramaid Glass Pantry Jars – Have I finally found the perfect glass canisters for all my flour, sugar, and grains? I hope so! I love the look of this whole line (and how the jars are stackable) and plan to redo my pantry with these.
FEBU Swedish Dishcloths – I use Swedish dishcloths instead of paper towels or sponges for a lot of kitchen tasks, but I especially like these ones because they come in black (and won’t show stains so easily). I’ve already ordered a new set for my home!
Crock Pot Portable Slow Cooker – My favorite feature of this classic slow cooker is the locking lid. It’s perfect if you’re making a dish to bring to a potluck or holiday party.
KitchenAid Pasta Cutter Attachment – I’ve had a stand mixer for a while and always wanted a pasta cutter to speed up the process of making fresh pasta. This attachment set is finally on sale!
Zojirushi Rice Cooker and Warmer – Do you like rice as much as I do? Take it from me—as someone who grew up on rice in a long line of Asian rice enthusiasts—you cannot go wrong with Zojirushi if you want the best and fluffiest white rice.
FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine – For years I’ve wanted a vacuum sealer to help my food (especially vegetables from the garden) stay fresher in the fridge and freezer. This deal might be the nudge I needed to finally get one!
Tundras Hot Hand Warmers – I stock up on these hand warmers every year. They’re a must for first-aid kits, and I keep a few in the car and RV for hiking, snowboarding, sledding, and other cold-weather outings (not to mention emergencies).
Sony Bluetooth Portable Travel Speaker – I purchased the coral color during last year’s Amazon Prime Day, and I’ve been loving this speaker for backyard BBQs, camping, and road trips! It’s truly waterproof and has great sound in a small package.
