How accurate is Bloomcast?

Bloomcast uses numerical weather prediction models from 17 major national weather services (including NOAA, GEM Canada, ECMWF, UK Met Office, DWD Germany, Météo-France, ItaliaMeteo, MeteoSwiss, GeoSphere Austria, DMI Denmark, KNMI Netherlands, MET Norway, CHMI Aladin, JMA Japan, KMA Korea, CMA China, and BOM Australia) to provide highly accurate forecasts.

A best-match algorithm automatically selects the highest-resolution weather model available for any given location, from the North Pole to the South Pole and everything in between.

Hourly and daily forecasts update frequently with real-time observations (15 minutes for North America and Central Europe, 1 to 6 hours globally).

Enter your town, county, zip code, or nearest weather station to pull your coordinates and elevation and get consistent, reliable weather data.

Garden Betty Plus members get full access to Bloomcast plus an ad-free experience across the whole site.

FAQ

Yep! If there’s a major weather service in that part of the world, you’ll get a forecast for it. Bloomcast currently uses numerical weather prediction models from NOAA, GEM Canada, ECMWF, UK Met Office, DWD Germany, Météo-France, ItaliaMeteo, MeteoSwiss, GeoSphere Austria, DMI Denmark, KNMI Netherlands, MET Norway, CHMI Aladin, JMA Japan, KMA Korea, CMA China, and BOM Australia.

Bloomcast always displays the current weather conditions at the top of the page, including air and soil temperatures, humidity, dewpoint, precipitation, wind, cloud cover, UV index, sun path, and moon phase. If any adverse weather events coming up might affect your garden, you’ll see that next. Below the main view, you can toggle between seven different charts to see forecasts for min/max temperatures, precipitation totals, relative humidity, dewpoint, soil temperatures, wind, and daylight. A simple graph plots the values you want to see (or not see).

Bloomcast is one of the perks available to Garden Betty Plus members, and isn’t available as a standalone subscription.

Bloomcast is not an app. It works as a standalone page on my site, so it won’t eat up your phone storage or require constant updates. Any future updates I make to the service will happen seamlessly and instantly! If you want a more app-like experience, you can set Bloomcast as a shortcut on your home screen. (I’ll email you with instructions after you join.)

Bloomcast can’t send notifications to your phone, but that also means it doesn’t require questionable permissions like so many apps do. As a gardener, I always recommend checking the weather at least once a week (more if you live in a challenging climate) so you’re never caught by surprise. Bloomcast forecasts 14 days out and also gives you a look back 3 days so you can compare and see what happened on a particular day.

Join Garden Betty Plus and we’ll send you straight to Bloomcast (which is also your member dashboard).
